The Mergent Canadian Dividend Achievers™ Select Index tracks companies in the Mergent Canadian Dividend Achievers Index which also meet additional liquidity requirements. The stock's daily average cash volume must have been over USD $3,000,000 in November and December. So it is the Canadian version of the Mergent Select Dividend Achievers Index.
These are the most liquid and highest quality dividend paying companies that have a long history of raising their stock dividends every year.
Mergent calculates the weighting based on market capitalization.
The current top holdings (out of a total of 37 companies) are:
- AGF Management Ltd
- AltaGas Income Trust
- Atco Ltd.
- Bank of Montreal
- Bank of Nova Scotia
- Brookfield Properties Corp.
- Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce
- Canadian National Railway Co.
- Canadian Natural Resources Ltd.
- Canadian Utilities Ltd.
I couldn't find any exchange traded funds or other ways to track this index. There may be one by the time you read this. However, I don't see any advantage of buying into this index over the broad Mergent Canadian Dividend Achievers Index.
