Equity One (NYSE: EQY) is a REIT specializing in developing, acquiring, renovating managing community and neighborhood shopping centers. That is, the kind of strip mall anchored by a supermarket, drug store or discount retail store. Jeffrey S. Olson is the current President and Chief Executive Officer.
Equity One now owns or has an interest in 162 properties in 10 states. 145 of these are shopping centers, with 15.9 million square feet. They have 7 projects under development or redevelopment, 6 nonretail properties, and four parcels of land. They also have 10% ownership interest in 8 neighborhood shopping centers with GRI Venture.

Almost all the properties of Equity One are in southern states of the United States, so their stock is dependent on economic conditions in that part of the country.
