UMH Properties, Inc. (ticker symbol UMH on the American Stock Exchange) -- once United Mobile Homes -- is a top REIT providing manufactured home communities. Yes, what most of us call trailer parks.
UMH has been in business since 1968, and currently owns 28 sites, consisting of 6,700 homes. They're located in New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Tennessee, and Pennsylvania. The real estate investment trust company itself is located in Freehold, New Jersey.
UMH Properties Locations are in Demand No Matter What the Economy is Doing
Their subsidiary, UMH Sales and Finance, sells manufactured homes to their residents.
UMH has a dividend reinvestment plan. They're also included in the Mergent Dividend Achievers Index, meaning they've raised dividends every year for at least 10 years.
The pictures they display of their manufactured homes look quite nice -- nothing like the trailer parks I've seen.
