Mission West Properties is a real estate investment trust focused on the management, leasing, marketing, development and acquisition of commercial research and development properties, mostly in the Silicon Valley area of California. They operate as a self-managed, self-managed and full integrated REIT.
Mission West is headquartered in Cupertino California. Their New York Stock Exchange symbol is MSW. They now own over 100 properties, with 8 million square feet.
Their properties include Orchard and Trimble in San Jose, Bayview in Fremont, 5521 Hellyer in San Jose, the Orchard-Trimble Business Park, Silvercreek Business Park, Piercy Business Park in San Jose, and 1600 Memorex in Santa Clara.
Of course, Silicon Valley is one of the premier real estate markets in the U.S., because it's the site of so many high tech companies. But this is a weakness too because it's subject to the same cycle of booms and busts as is the high tech market.
