Mid-America Apartment Communities, Inc. is a self-managed real estate investment trust that started in 1977, and went public in 1994. Mid-America Apartment owns apartment communities in Sunbelt markets across the Southeast and South Central U.S. markets. They have over 42,000 apartments in 145 communities, with the slogan Creating Great Places to Call Home.
Mid-America Apartment Communities (NYSE: MAA) is in all phases -- acquisition, redevelopment, new development, property management and disposition. Its headquarters are in Memphis Tennessee. They have apartments in small, medium and large sized markets. They do have a DRIP -- Dividend ReInvestment Program.
