Equity Lifestyle Properties, Inc. (NYSE: ELS) is a self-administered, self-managed real estate investment trust that owns and operates high quality resort communities. Their headquarters are in Chicago Illinois.

ELS has controlling interest in 310 resorts in 30 states of the United States and British Columbia, Canada -- a total of 110,000 sites. They have been in business over 30 years, and launched their IPO in 1993. Basically, they provide site-set homes rather than RV or recreational vehicles. A site set home is prebuilt in the factory and then delivered to their location. They average over 1400 square feet and offer screened-in porches, peaked roofs, fireplaces and designer kitchen. Not your standard trailer. They cost an average of $75,000.

You can get into a site-set home through a land lease, rather than buying. ELS communities offer such amenities as swimming pools, golf courses, basketball and volleyball courts, play and picnic areas, whirlpools and spas, and marinas and boat docks.

Over 70% of Equity Lifestyle residents are over 55 years old, and two-thirds of their communities are marketed as exclusively age qualified communities. They also own and operate RV parks.
